CITIC Europe Holdings sold its stake in SK Slavia Praha

On 21 December 2023, CITIC Europe Holdings a.s. and FULLEREN a.s., a company from Pavel Tykač’s holding, signed an SPA for the sale of 99.98% of shares in SK Slavia Praha – fotbal a.s. and 100% of shares in Eden Arena a.s. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals in the Czech Republic and the PRC and is expected to be completed by the end of February next year.

Three championships, three victories in the Czech Cup, three quarter-finals of prestigious European competitions and countless positive emotions on and off the pitch for all Slavia fans. These are the achievements of more than five years of CITIC Europe Holdings as the majority shareholder and owner of the football club SK Slavia Prague.

This is the most successful period in the club’s modern history, having the highest average attendance per match in the Czech league, now exceeding 18,000 fans, and the most season tickets sold of any Czech football club. At the same time, the club ranked 32nd in the UEFA club rankings for the men’s team and 11th for the women’s team. Additionally, over 500 girls and boys in the Slavia Youth Academy program. Last but not least, SK Slavia is a leader in social responsibility activities that extend far beyond the pitch and the walls of the Eden Stadium.

We have always cared about Slavia. That is why we have adopted the same attitude towards its future. Pavel Tykač is an experienced manager, investor and entrepreneur. Moreover, he is a lifelong Slavic fan with a great family tradition in a red&white jersey. We are handing over a profitable club at the peak of both financial and sporting performance. Slavia has been and will remain in good hands.

Withdrawing from football does not mean the end of our activities in the Czech Republic. We are looking for further business and investment opportunities, not only domestically but across the whole of Europe.
